'Love Volunteers' reliability

I’m currently looking into volunteering in Nepal ext spring, and the one international operator that has really caught my eye has been ‘Love Volunteers’. However, I’m concerned about their reliability – I have largely seen good reviews, but nothing that has lessened my doubts. I just don’t know whether I can trust online volunteer reviews…

Love Volunteers reliability

Dear Jamie,
Sorry for making you wait this long. It is difficult for us to give you direct information on single organization, at least as long as we have not made contact with them. But I can make two suggestions:

  1. Try to find former volunteers on facebook and ask them about their experiences. Our facebook group should be a good place to start.
  2. Get in touch with “Love Volunteers” and ask them about their work, their ethics and their quality. Our Quality Standards should give you enough questions to ask.
  3. Take a look at this question raised a few weeks ago. Sebastian listed some good ideas on how to inform you about the quality of volunteer programs.
  4. Love Volunteers is similar to the bigger companies such as IVHQ, when it comes to the structure and preparation process. They work in many countries and have plenty of different projects to offer but have far less volunteers. They contract with local institutions which are mainly local organization. They actually organize most of your stay.  In some countries they work with big partners, in others with small local facilitating organizations. Here you can find an article on how the companies operate locally.

Please tell us about your decision and your experiences!
